Monaco is a fascinating place—it’s essentially a real-world playground for the rich and famous, packed into an area smaller than New York's Central Park.

Size & Location: It is the second-smallest independent state in the world (only Vatican City is smaller), measuring just about 2 square kilometers (0.8 sq miles). It’s nestled on the French Riviera, completely surrounded by France on three sides and the Mediterranean Sea on the other.

Government: It is a constitutional monarchy ruled by the House of Grimaldi, with Prince Albert II currently at the helm.

Key Districts to Know
Monaco is divided into several wards, but these three are the most famous:
Monte Carlo: The glamour capital. This is where you’ll find the iconic Casino de Monte-Carlo, luxury hotels, high-end boutiques, and supercar-lined streets.
Monaco-Ville (The Rock): The historic heart of the principality. It’s a rocky promontory jutting into the sea, featuring narrow medieval lanes and the Prince’s Palace.
La Condamine: The bustling port area where you can gawk at multi-million-dollar superyachts.
